Byron Bay

Believe everything you've heard – Byron Bay is one of Australia's most vibrant and exciting destinations. Originally a poor industrial town, in the 1960s surfers discovered Byron Bay's awesome breaks and began to colonise the area. A flourishing hippy culture developed, and more and more people moved to Byron in search of sun, sand and freedom. Today Byron is a major tourist hot spot, world-renowned for its fantastic surf and bohemian lifestyle.

Byron Bay is home to a large community of artists, writers and musicians, all of whom contribute to the town's distinctly avant garde atmosphere. Various markets operate throughout Byron Bay, including the popular Farmers Market every Saturday.

If you're looking to let your hair down, make no mistake about it: Byron Bay is party central. The thriving nightlife is a major drawcard for this town, and every night the reveller crowd swarms the pubs and clubs until the wee hours of the morning.
Venturing beyond the town itself, Byron Bay is surrounded by lush subtropical rainforest with plenty of bushwalking opportunities.

Byron Bay

The infamous town of Nimbin is a short drive from Byron, if you're inclined to visit. Whatever your cup of tea, Byron Bay is an amazing town that simply can't be missed.
