Australia Zoo

Tragically, we've lost Steve Irwin. But the Crocodile Hunter's memory lives on at Australia Zoo. Opened in 1970 by Bob and Lyn Irwin, Steve's parents, over the years Australia Zoo has grown into a world-class conservation and education centre.

Australia is a land renowned for its wealth of incredible native animals, and you can discover them all at Australia Zoo. Located only an hour and a half north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast, the the zoo is a perfect one day escape that the whole family will enjoy.

Australia Zoo offers daily animal encounters, where patrons can get up close and personal with exotic wildlife from here and overseas. Cuddle a koala, walk with a Sumatran tiger or hand-feed an Asian elephant – it's all possible at Australia Zoo.

On top of the vast array of regular exhibitions, Australia Zoo hosts numerous special events throughout the year, to coincide with Australian public holidays and significant events. Check the zoo's calendar to see what's coming up during your visit. There's bound to be something interesting.

Australia Zoo is about more than just fun times with the animals. The zoo actively lobbies for animal rights and supports various organisations and conservation projects around the world. When you visit Australia Zoo you can rest assured that your money is going toward a good cause – not to mention a great day out with some amazing creatures!
